With retirement housing high on the Government’s agenda, Ringwood-based Renaissance Retirement took the opportunity to host a visit from local MP, Caroline Nokes, at its completed development on Duttons Road, Romsey this week.
The site was formerly home to the borough council offices in the town before its sale but has since been redeveloped by the retirement housing specialist with 52 one and two bedroom apartments. The link between local MP and the site’s former use is a close one as Ms Nokes served on Test Valley for ten years before entering Parliament.
Following a tour of the development, carried out by the company’s Managing Director, Robert Taylor, Caroline was introduced to one of the residents, Anne Gorst, who spoke about her decision to move to the scheme. Industry issues were the next item on the agenda for the Romsey and Southampton North MP, who took the time to discuss wider retirement housing and planning matters with members of Renaissance’s team.
Ann said: “I reserved very early and it was the right thing to do. I couldn’t be happier – it’s so spacious,” beamed Anne. “I love the central location, the south west aspect, the balcony, and the high ceilings giving a feeling of even more space. And I’ve got stunning views of Romsey Abbey.”
