Last week I hosted a cross party event for 50:50 Parliament and the annual #AskHertoStand day.
It was great to meet so many enthusiastic and determined women who want to play their part in Westminster. We also got to hear the varied journeys colleagues had made to get to Parliament, from several different parties and all different parts of the country.
The new Secretary of State for Health Victoria Atkins spoke about what had inspired her, and told a very moving account of a young by she had represented as a barrister and the impact it had upon her.
There is still a long way to go before we see equal representation in Westminster, but asking women to think abut standing is the first step.
