Last week in Westminster I caught up with Malcolm Morley the President of the British Veterinary Association to talk about the Kept Animals Bill as well as other crucial issues impacting animal welfare.
The Bill will address some of the most pressing animal health and welfare issues and it needs to make progress. The BVA has been campaigning on this for years and it will enable a proper strategy to tackle hideous crimes like puppy smuggling, the importation of dogs with cropped ears and ban people keeping primates as pets.
I am urging the new Secretary of State at DEFRA to prioritise this piece of legislation.
