Last week I was honoured to give the opening keynote address at the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers annual conference.
The AFBE-UK is a pioneering not for profit association founded in 2007 out of a desire to foster more awareness of the opportunities in the Engineering sector among young people of Black and minority ethnic origin. Their founding vision is a passion for encouraging more pursuit of careers in STEM and the realization of a skills shortage that needs to be filled by keen new entrants. They are also a mentoring organisation with a widening impact (over 20,000 beneficiaries and 2500 members) that continues to benefit multidisciplinary and multi-ethnic groups of students and young people in the UK.
