Last weekend saw an absolutely amazing fashion show staged at Mountbatten School and organised by Children in Need Fundraiser of the Year 2021 Amy Wright. Her entire family pulled together to put on not just an incredible show, but they raised not far off £3000 for Children in Need. It was a lovely evening and a welcome break from some of the more serious issues we are facing.
This week in Reykjavic I have met with a number of Ukrainian MPs and officials at the Global Women Leaders Forum. It has been a phenomenal experience, alongside my colleague Carolyn Harris from Swansea. Nominated by Mr Speaker to attend this has been a great opportunity to talk to other parliamentarians about the work we have been doing on the menopause.
I did take some time out on Wednesday to run a virtual mile with Gabby Pattison from Cupernham Junior School. Gabby is running one mile 26 times to raise money for an outdoor classroom. Whilst I say it was a virtual mile, it was an actual mile, with Gabby in Romsey and me in Reykjavic, on FaceTime, explaining why it was still pitch black here at 7.15am, whereas at home it was lovely broad daylight.
