The weather has significantly improved over the last few days and it really does feel like Spring, with Easter coming up this weekend. It is always a time for renewal and optimism, and, dare I say it, a bit of Spring cleaning.
It was only a few weeks ago in Parliament I met a giant womble to mark the Great British Spring Clean, which has just finished. I have had quite a lot of correspondence over the last few weeks about litter, and the efforts the Borough Council, National Highways and various other organisations and individuals put in to keeping this area litter free. I know that the cost to local authorities is immense, money that wouldn't have to be spent if people just took their litter home.
Test Valley has consistently been very proactive in making sure that wherever there is evidence fly tippers are prosecuted, and has an excellent track record of securing convictions.
Finally, the blossom is really starting to come out and the National Trust is encouraging people to take part in the annual blossom watch. I love photographing the blossom (badly) and this year have planted some new fruit trees in the garden to look forward to their flowers in the years to come.
