I am looking forward over this weekend to trying to settle our new rescue cat Suki at home. She is arriving from the Blue Cross at Hedge End, and by all accounts has had an interesting (for which read challenging) life to date. Most of the cats I have had in my life over the years have been as a result of rehoming, and whilst you miss out on the fun of a kitten I am very much hoping we can be a settled home for a new family friend.
It is very much an animal week as one of my surgery appointments this week is about electric training collars for dogs, which some are vehemently opposed to, and there is legislation about to be enacted to ban them. That has caused some controversy, with others pointing out that they have been the solution for a difficult to train dog.
On Tuesday I attended an event with Alzheimer's Research UK as part of Dementia Action Week. This Sunday there is the RomDag event at the Crosfield Hall and there is more going on in Parliament next week. It was interesting to hear about the drugs which have passed FDA approval in the States and the progress being made here. It was clear there is a long way to go but significant work is being done to make sure better diagnostics are in place for when UK approvals are secured.
