I am very much looking forward to the launch of the Romsey Festival this coming weekend, along with the Wallops Wheels and Wings, Barton Stacey village fete and of course the Mayor's picnic in the Memorial Park. With any luck the sun will make an appearance for all the outdoor events.
This week in Parliament I was delighted to host the launch of some gripping research into the experiences of families with a parent or carer in the prison system. This is incredibly topical at the moment and the research highlighted the very profound impact parental incarceration has on children. The testimonies included from the children were very powerful indeed. The research was undertaken by one of my constituents and it was great to see her in Parliament for the launch.
I also had a parliamentary "first" when on Tuesday I made a point of order in the chamber. I cannot believe that in 13 years I had never made one previously, but it is always good to try new devices and parliamentary mechanisms to draw attention to an issue or problem.
It was also lovely to have two constituents up on Wednesday for PMQs and several come and visit this week for tours and other meetings. It has felt a very constituent orientated week - always my favourite.
