It has been a very varied week in the Chamber, with Women and Equalities questions, a statement on the Rape Review on Monday, an opposition day debate on vaping on Wednesday, and a debate on "Swift Bricks" in Westminster Hall.
I can remember opening the annual conference of the Hampshire Swifts when it was in Romsey some years ago. I still have a mug with a swift on it that I won in the raffle. It is well loved, as are these incredible birds who spend the vast majority of their life on the wing, even managing to eat, drink and sleep whilst staying in flight.
The debate on children and vaping was very timely, as I am meeting local Headteachers this week to talk about what more they want Government to do to deter children from taking up vaping. I absolutely endorse the use of vapes to aid smoking cessation, they are a valuable tool, but as I said in the Chamber, not at pocket money prices and packaged to appeal to children.
The Romsey Festival is coming to an end this weekend, with some great events still to come, and of course we add carnival festivities to the celebrations. There is the Youth Choir concert on Friday evening as well as the Bed Race, which is always great fun, and this year at the weekend which means I won't be stuck in Westminster just looking at the photos.
