Last week I celebrated International Women in Engineering Day with a round table for a powerful group of determined women in construction at an event organised by Roni Savage, CEO of JOMAS Associates.
Hosted at her new premises in Uxbridge (and via MS Teams) Roni had brought together a group of incredibly powerful female leaders in the field. There was a great focus not just on how to encourage girls into engineering, but also how to support those already working in the sector.
The day was very much about joined up thinking and how we can create change faster. I think the comments of former Apprentice finalist Michaela Wain, were absolutely bang on, that there has been a great deal of talking but too little progress. Although we all celebrated the increase from 13-16% women in the construction sector. But that just demonstrates how much further there is to go.
Huge thanks to Roni Savage, Carol Massay, Dr Nike Folayan, Yuli Doulala-Rigby, Michaela Wain, Yewande Akinola and many many others for your useful insights and commitment to getting more women into your sector.
