The Chancellor’s Winter Economy Plan which was launched yesterday has been widely welcomed, bringing additional support to help get businesses back on their feet.
Whilst he was in the House of Commons yesterday I was visiting Phoenix Bus Services and Beat the Streets UK in Romsey. Based on the Abbey Park Industrial Estate they are the country’s premier tour bus providers, facilitating the transport needs of performing artists throughout the UK and Europe. Whether it is the Strictly tour or global stars they have the vehicle to suit every need - but of course since March they have not moved from the Romsey depot.
The music industry is a huge contributor to the UK economy and tours are a significant part of that. This is a bespoke business, which I will be talking to Ministers about, to try to find a way they can be helped until such time as events can restart.
