Last week I had the privilege to Chair one of the panel discussions at the Wellbeing of Women inaugural women’s health summit. Alongside brilliant campaigners and professionals, Dr Ranee Thakar, President Elect of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Dr Nighat Arif, Clo Abe from Five X More and Davina McCall, we had a wide ranging discussion, from maternity to the menopause.
There remain real concerns about health inequalities, about women’s voices not being heard, a lack of data around women’s health issues and trials and research being primarily conducted on men. So it was great to be able to listen to the experts, celebrate that for the first time we have a Women’s Health Ambassador, Dame Lesley Regan, and to look forward to the full implementation of the Women’s Health Strategy by the Department of Health and Social Care.
