September is World Alzheimer’s Month and last week Alzheimer’s Research UK were in Parliament to talk to MPs about their new report Tipping Point: The Future of Dementia.
There has been great progress recently regarding new treatments but there is also a great deal of work to do to understand the ways we can try to prevent dementia. What research has shown is there are more people living with hearing loss or dementia (or both) and hearing loss in mid-life is associated with an increased risk of dementia, but studies have not yet shown why. That is why more research is needed.
This Sunday (17th September) there is a brilliant event in the Crosfield Hall, which I attended last year, hosted by Romdag. It is an information day running from 10am-3pm, helping those living with dementia and their families with advice and guidance on a wide range of issues. I know how useful the day was for some of my constituents last year, and it is well worth popping along.
