This has been a varied and interesting week, with a meeting for farmers alongside the Rural Payments Agency, a trip to the Audley Village at Stanbridge Earls, a meeting with residents in Nether Wallop and a quick drop in to Ace Liftaway at Yokesford. It is not yet over and tomorrow I have a trip on an electric bike and a vineyard visit.
I was also lucky to attend a Business South event at Kimbridge Barn, one of my favourite places in the whole constituency to have lunch with female business leaders from the wider region. It was fantastic to catch up with old friends and meet new people. Little did I expect the conversation to turn to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, but I am conscious there are number of local scouts involved and it has been a pretty tough time for them all. However, parents have had nothing but praise for UK Scouting, who took the decision to evacuate early, and as a result the young people were kept safe, occupied, and away from the extremes of both weather and mosquitoes.
This weekend there is an event at Broadlands with the Mountbatten Hospice. Several weeks ago I Chaired a debate in Westminster Hall about the hospice movement and led by my neighbour and colleague Paul Holmes MP. I am very conscious of the amazing work the Mountbatten Hospice does, sadly because of the friends and constituents who have been there. Paul recently did a sky dive to raise funds for them, I am not sure I am much minded to fling myself out of a plane, but certainly do what I can to support them.
