It has taken the best part of a week for my feet to recover from Walking the Test Way last Sunday with Romsey Rotary and over 500 other intrepid walkers. The sun shone for most of it, but the dismal weather at the start did mean we were all dragging our wet weather gear down the Valley. Huge thanks to the organisers and all the cheerful volunteers who were stewarding the route, making sure we were all hydrated and headed in the right direction.
It was a pleasure to speak at the inaugural Women in Work summit this week, which followed the most incredible event, the Women in Construction Awards last weekend. Women of my age make up the fastest growing demographic in employment, and despite the assessment of the value of women by some GB News hosts and guests this week, we are a critical part of the workforce.
One woman who is a real force to be reckoned with is my constituent Marina Cornwall, who at the age of 69 is the British Powerlifting Champion. Marina is off to Mongolia to represent GB in the World Championships, despite there being a 5 year gap since she last lifted nationally. She is such an inspiration and a great ambassador for the importance of resistance training to fend off osteoporosis. I am very much looking forward to meeting her this weekend having given her a bit of help with her fundraising effort to get to Mongolia.
