This week is National Lorry Week 2023 and to mark the importance of road haulage to our local and national economy I visited Meachers Global Logistics at Nursling to talk about the challenges the sector faces.
Virtually everything we buy in the shops is reliant on the haulage sector, and our public services would grind to a halt if it was not for the power of logistics.
It was interesting to hear at Meachers about the efforts they have made to keep their fleet upgraded to the latest standards, converting to Euro 6 as quickly as they could, and always looking to the future as to how they can make their operations as green and as efficient as possible.
What started out as a relatively small local company now employs over 200 local people and has been in business for over 65 years.
