I am writing this whilst waiting for the worst of Storm Ciaran to hit and I guess this really could be described as the lull before the storm. The Met Office has put out an Amber Weather Warning and the Environment Agency has its Romsey control room up and running in readiness. I suppose until the storm arrives we all just need to keep safe at home as much as possible, with candles on standby in case of power outages. If the flooding of 2014 taught us anything in Test Valley it was about resilience, and I certainly have my grab bag of important documents etc close at hand.
But meanwhile, I was thrilled to be invited to The Hunters Inn at the top of Winchester Hill this week to sample their new menu, which I have to say is absolutely fantastic. Times are tough for the hospitality industry, with high energy bills, challenges finding staff and the cost of living impacting people's ability to eat out. However, we all like a warm welcome, quality food and great service and you certainly get that at The Hunters, plus the sesame chicken was amazing!
Next week Trevor Mitchell with Chez Gerrard are having an open evening in the refurbished salon, so existing and new customers can see the changes Helen and her team have made and get some great hair hints and hacks. As someone who has definitely perfected the Worzel Gummidge look over the last few years (I blame angry menopause hair) I fear I have a lot to learn. But it did strike me that Romsey businesses are still working hard, investing and looking to the future, it is not all doom and gloom out there.
