I am looking forward over this weekend to trying to settle our new rescue cat Suki at home. She is arriving from the Blue Cross at Hedge End, and by all accounts has had an interesting (for which read challenging) life to date.
Last week’s St George’s Day parade and service at the Abbey was absolutely beautiful, and all the various sections of Scouting and Guiding certainly put on a great display of teamwork, smartness and of the values that they represent.
This week my committee published a report into Black Maternal Health and the shocking truth that black women are 3.7 times more likely to die in childbirth than their white counterparts.
Great to be at the recent “Blossom in Westminster” exhibition hosted by the National Trust, who have a fantastic campaign to bring blossom back to our towns and cities.
During recess I had a fascinating meeting with a local company supplying "vape" detectors, for schools, train operating companies, airlines etc. So it was interesting to see the announcement from the DHSC this week about the new measures on smoking cessation and tackling young people vaping.
